The TCC

I finally joined the Traveler’s Century Club. Certificate and Pin came today along with my Silver certificate for having collected 150 of them. It’s mostly about bragging rights. Although every time I meet someone who has been to someplace I’ve not visited I get quite excited to hear their experience and advice. It most likely will be on my list for the coming year if it sounds promising.

From my first European trip at 20 years old to the top and the bottom of the World!

They send out quarterly newsletters and have local chapter meetings. They offer the opportunity to join others for social interactions around the globe and there are more than 1500 members. The club promotes the understanding of cultures, history and peoples along with the geographical accumulations.

In order to join you must have visited 100 countries and then with each additional 50 your status elevates to the next level. I need 9 more to become “gold”. When signing up you receive a list of all countries and territories, a total of 325. While some are not actual countries they are included because they have become separate due to politics or geography. What fun for those of us who wish to be more than just tourists, we want to know the world!

If you would like to become a TCC member, click Join the Club for information about membership requirements and dues.

When did you start your wtde-worjd adventure and were you usually alone?

    • About 28 years ago…after my divorce I went back into teaching and used that first 3 month break to travel by myself. Around the World! After that I traveled with others for awhile especially while my daughters worked for a global corporation and let me stay with them in their hotel in some pretty exotic places! The last 7 or 8 years I’d say I travel alone 90% of the time. The places I have yet to explore are not exactly places where others dare to go;-) Hope all is well with you!
